I Concur formed in Leeds at the tail end of 2006 thanks to a shared love of American indie, slowcore and post rock - bands such as The National, Low, Wilco and Mogwai.
Comprised of Tim Hann (vocals/guitar), James Brunger (drums/vocals), Toby Page (bass) and Chris Woolford (guitar), the band’s first practices created a set of songs based on Hann’s abstract style of story telling. Tracks such as ‘Decimal Places’, written about the mistakes of the South Korean stem cell scientist Woo Sung Hwak, and ‘Exits Are Blockades’, which focused on the extinction of the prehistoric crocodile, came out of these initial song writing sessions.
Two singles and an EP have given I Concur positive reviews from the NME and plays on Radio 1. This lead to being invited down to the world famous Maida Vale studios to record a session for Huw Stephens’ In New Music We Trust show which was aired in April ’08.
The band played a high profile slots at their hometown Live At Leeds festival in the last two years, and were asked by Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq to play the BBC introducing stage at both Reading and Leeds Festivals ’08.
The debut album Able Archer was recorded in the spring of 2009 with James Kenosha (Grammatics, This Et Al, Duels). The first single from the album will be Sobotka, which tells the story of the ill-fated stevedores from popular HBO series, The Wire.

"I Concur's epic post-punk symphonies are monumental." NME
“I Concur sounding brilliant.” Huw Stephens, RADIO 1
"‘Able Archer’ is a finely tuned collection of songs that sparkles with a beauty and intelligence so desperately lacking in many of today’s more highly feted artists. Furthermore, it represents the fact that substance will always win the day over style, and I Concur seemingly possess that facet by the bucketload." - GIGWISE
"Sure to stand a few hairs on end and whet a few appetites." - SIC MAGAZINE
"In the world of craftsmanship and serious intent inhabited by I Concur, it seems that days and months are there for grinding down to basic elements and purifying into stable oxides to withstand long winters. The bloody audience can wait. Yorkshire style. The themes, defiantly and definitely, are of long, stubborn relationships between narrow-eyed heroes and an inhospitable physical and politically violent world. Making their songs into a near-perfect classic album was bound to take a while." - WHISPERIN' AND HOLLERIN'
"This is a highly rewarding listen. I’d keep my eye on this lot, if I were you." - MUSIC FANS MIC
